Md. Catholic Educators Open New School Year
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Thousands of Catholic school educators will kick off the school year with convocation in downtown Baltimore.
Barbara McGraw Edmondson, schools superintendent for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, will host about 2,000 teachers and administrators Monday at an inaugural Catholic Schools Convocation at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Archbishop Edwin O'Brien will offer a video greeting, and Auxiliary Bishops Mitchell Rozanski and Denis Madden will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving for the upcoming school year. The event also includes an awards ceremony to honor educators celebrating milestone anniversaries.
