Md. Board Of Physicians Closes Abortion Probe After Abortion Clinic Death
GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Board of Physicians has closed its investigation into the death of a woman who was treated at an abortion clinic in Germantown.
The doctor's office shared a letter it received Tuesday from the board with The Washington Post.
The action was the last in a series of reviews after an anti-abortion group filed a complaint alleging that LeRoy Carhart provided improper care to the 29-year-old woman who died days after receiving a late-term abortion.
In May, an autopsy cited natural causes in the death of the woman, who suffered a rare condition in which amniotic fluid was pushed into her blood system.
State health officials also found "no deficiencies" in her care at the clinic.
Carhart says he believes that they "did everything as correctly as possible."
