Md. Announces Appointment Of Toll Authority Head
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A former acting manager of the Maryland Transportation Authority has returned from retirement to oversee the agency, which manages the state's toll facilities.
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley announced Tuesday the appointment of Harold M. Bartlett as executive secretary of the Maryland Transportation Authority. He will work with the agency's eight board members direct for the agency, which operates eight state toll facilities.
Bartlett has a master's degree from San Diego State University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
He worked for 23 years at the Washington Metropolitan Transportation Agency. In 2009 he was appointed deputy
transportation secretary at the Maryland Department of Transportation. He was acting executive secretary of the toll
agency from August 2010 until retiring in February.
