Md. 9/11 Memorial Renderings To Be Released Soon
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Organizers of the 9/11 Memorial of Maryland are preparing to release renderings of the project set to open in time for the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
On Monday, prompted by news of Osama bin Laden's death, the memorial committee publicized a recently launched website that describes the project planned for the plaza north of Baltimore's World Trade Center at the Inner Harbor. Renderings are to be made public in two weeks.
Wreckage from the World Trade Center and Pentagon will be incorporated into the privately funded memorial that will function as a sundial using the shadow of Baltimore's trade center building.
Twisted steel beams will rest on stone bearing the names and birthdates of 63 victims who considered Maryland home.
