McDonald's Beating Victim Faces Disorderly Charges
ESSEX, Md. (AP) -- A transgendered woman beaten in a McDonald's has been charged with disorderly conduct after an argument with a police officer.
A video of the April beating went viral on the Internet, spurring efforts to strengthen anti-discrimination laws.
Chrissy Polis called police to her Essex home Saturday to report the theft of her purse, phone and $800. As an officer took down Polis' account, police say she shouted obscenities.
Polis was charged with disorderly conduct. A trial is set for February.
