Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake Discusses Grand Prix Cancellation; NBA & NHL In Baltimore
Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake joined The Vinny & Rob Show to discuss the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Baltimore for (at least) 2014 and 2015 due to scheduling conflicts.
"I was certainly disappointed that all the parties involved couldn't reach an agreement on a date," lamented the mayor.
Mayor Rawlings-Blake compared not being able to agree on a new date to the Ravens season-opening fight between the NFL and Major League Baseball.
"You know how scheduling conflicts go. We couldn't even have our opening game for the Ravens season because of all the different parts that had to align for that to happen."
"It was a great three years," added the mayor when speaking about how much the Grand Prix of Baltimore meant to the city in terms of tax revenue, visibility on the world stage, jobs, and tourism.
The mayor is hopeful that Charm City will attract other big events, and possibly an NBA or NHL franchise, in the future.
"When you think of about Baltimore's history and how many players we've put in the leagues? It would be a no-brainer," she said.
