Maryland Weather | Flooding Remains Concern Into Early Friday
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Slow-moving strong to severe storms brought heavy rain, flash flooding and power outages to parts of Maryland Thursday.
An areal flood warning remains in effect for Baltimore and Harford Counties, as well as Baltimore City, until 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Flood waters swept through an area that's normally a parking lot on Clipper Mill Road in Baltimore.
Businesses in the Meadow Mill Complex were even forced to evacuate.
"They said you have to get out of the building as soon as possible," one person told WJZ.
Employees left with no choice but to move their cars to a safe spot.
"I had to get out because the water was coming up," an employee said.
Around the same time, Mount Washington was hit by the same system.
"The water was gushing from all the way up Smith Avenue down," said DK Salon Owner Denise Klicos.
Klicos said that firefighters were out in an effort to save people wading waist deep in water.
"It makes me cry because when you're scared to death like I was for everyone here, it was just unbelievable," she said.
In Harford County, trees were down and debris was blocking roads.
While the rain continued to hit the area, it left a muddy mess around Winters Run Creek in Abingdon, and for the people who witnessed the heavy rains and lived through it, they know the damage could have been even worse.
The storms also knocked out power to more than 6,000 Baltimore Gas and Electric customers, mainly in Baltimore and Harford counties.

"Today was my most frightening day because of what I saw," Klicos said.
Officials are monitoring flood-prone areas that could see more issues Thursday night and early Friday morning.
