4 Heat-Related Deaths Reported In Md. This Summer
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland health officials say there have now been four heat-related deaths in the state this summer.
This week's report on heat-related illnesses in the state shows the addition of three deaths. The new report lists the death of a Wicomico County woman 65 or older, a Baltimore County man 65 or older and a Baltimore County girl.
Baltimore County police say 16-month-old Sabriya Towels died last week after she was left in a vehicle for several hours.
The office of the Medical Examiner ruled that the cause of death was hyperthermia.
Last year, there were 46 confirmed heat-related deaths from May through September in Maryland. Officials say the majority occurred in the wake of the derecho.
