Maryland Ravens Fans Go Wild For Final Playoff Purple Friday
BALTIMORE (WJZ)--It's not just any purple Friday, but a playoff purple Friday. It's down to the wire for the Ravens as they get ready to face the New England Patriots. They're fighting for an AFC Championship and a ticket to the Super Bowl. WJZ is your home for the playoff run.
Monique Griego has more on the purple fever that's reached a new high in Maryland.
Ravens fans are ready to rumble.
"This is great. Everyone's so excited," said one fan. "We're so pumped for the game on Sunday. Go Ravens!"
Purple mania reached a fever pitch in Parkville as people showed their dedication any way they could. Hundreds of fans packed in Bill Bateman's for a purple Friday rally.
"It's so much excitement. It brings so much fun to Baltimore," said a Ravens fan.
Ravens fever has some fans driving more than a hour to get to Baltimore.
"It's just a hike," said one traveler. "We know we're going to the Super Bowl. We're real excited."
Even the Domino's sugar sign was outshined by a purple bird. And that was only the beginning.
In Annapolis, lawmakers got into the game—proving they will not be outpumped.
"We're going to kick some tail at 3 o'clock," one lawmaker said.
One thing all fans have in common is confidence that this party will last past Sunday.
"We're going to win. No doubt about it," one fan said.
So far, Ravens fans WJZ talked to said they're actually happy that the Ravens are considered the underdog for Sunday's game because that will make a victory taste even sweeter.
