Maryland Ranks 14th In "30 Most Dominant College Sports Programs"
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The University of Maryland ranked No. 14 on the 30 Most Dominant College Sports Programs list.
Business Insider compiled a list of the schools that have the most dominating sports programs and broke it down into a few categories.
To create the ranking they used data from the past three years of the Capital One Cup, championships won since 2000 in football, men's basketball, and women's basketball, revenue generated by the school's athletic department over the past three years according to the Department of Education, attendance of the sports over the past year, and Niche's ranking of the best college athletic programs for students.
This is how it played out for Maryland:
3-year average sports revenue: $71.0 million
3-year Capital One Cup points rank, men's sports: 12
3-year Capital One Cup points rank, women's sports: 7
Championship score rank (2000-16): 10
Niche rank, athletics: 8
