Maryland Man Who Escaped House Fire Dies Of Burns
TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) -- A man who escaped a serious house fire in Takoma Park this week has died from the injuries he suffered.
Montgomery County fire department officials said Saturday that 66-year-old Walter Rave died of his burn injuries. The fire broke out early Wednesday morning and caused about $400,000 in damage.
Firefighters found Rave in the front yard of the home. He was awakened by the fire but had to pass through a large fire on the front porch to escape his house and suffered extensive burns.
Investigators say the fire originated in the engine of a Toyota pick-up truck parked in the driveway. The fire has been ruled accidental.
