Maryland Live! Is Top Moneymaking Casino In Maryland
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Maryland casinos bring in the dough. Gamblers generated $65 million in September, $19 million more than September a year ago.
Political reporter Pat Warren reports once again, Maryland Live! is the top moneymaker.
There's a 10 figure payout to date and Dave Chilcote wants a piece of that.
"I love Texas Hold 'Em. I could play it all day," he said.
And cards aren't the only draw. Valoria Baylor has made the rounds.
"Yes, I went all over. I went to Atlantic City--wherever a car went or bus went, I was in it," Baylor said.
Both Chilcote and Baylor have made Maryland Live! their playing ground. It made $50.5 million in September, nearly 58 percent more than the previous year's $18.5 million. The new poker room contributed more than $2 million.
"If you're looking for a busy game, we got it--no matter what time of game," said Rob Norton, Maryland Live!
Although Maryland Live! is the hands down moneymaker, the Hollywood Casino in Perryville, Ocean Downs and Rocky Gap brought in nearly $15 million combined, for a total of $65.3 million.
"Along with a lot of other worthy causes, above and beyond what we're doing for the state's education trust fund, we're really in a great position and I think the state's seeing great results from us," Norton said.
Caesar's Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore opens next year.
The total September revenue is a drop from the $71 million generated in August of this year.
