Maryland Hires Locksley As Offensive Coordinator
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Maryland football coach Randy Edsall has hired Mike Locksley as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Locksley takes over for Gary Crowton, who lasted only one season.
Locksley, 41, returns to Maryland after previously serving as an assistant coach from 1998-2002 under Ralph Friedgen. He most recently spent two-plus years as the head coach at New Mexico after a four-year run as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Illinois.
During his first stint at Maryland, Locksley coached running backs and was the recruiting coordinator for five years.
Edsall says Locksley is "passionate about Maryland football, and we're happy to welcome him back home." Edsall says Locksley will also play a big role in recruiting.
Maryland went 2-10 this season, Edsall's first on the job after taking over for Friedgen.
