Maryland Guard Dion Wiley Expected To Miss 4 Months
Maryland men's basketball coach Mark Turgeon announced that Dion Wiley has had successful surgery to repair a torn right meniscus. The recovery and rehab will likely cause Wiley to miss four months.
"I am really disappointed for Dion because he worked so hard in the offseason and was playing at a very high level," Turgeon said. "This is a big loss for our team as Dion was expected to be our starting shooting guard. Our doctors were encouraged about the surgery and we know that Dion will work tirelessly to return to the court."
The 6 foot-4 guard and native of Oxon Hill, MD, Wiley appeared in 35 games last year in his freshman season. He averaged 4.1 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. In a game against the Virginia Military Institue, he scored a career-high 19 points and had six rebounds.
