GLEN BURNIE -- Anne Arundel County Police are searching for answers after a man was hit by a car and left for dead near a busy Glen Burnie highway.

Around 9:30 on Sunday night, AACPD responded to the area of Ritchie Highway and the on-ramp of Interstate 695 East for a report of an injured person.

An investigation revealed that 35-year-old Edward Broseker Jr. was the victim of the hit-and-run. Anne Arundel Fire Department pronounced Broseker dead shortly after police arrived. However, how this happened, and who hit him is still unclear.

Justin Mulcahy, AACPD Public Information Officer, says where Broseker was hit is "pretty much described as a little bit of an isolated area there, and it was raining at the time of the incident."

"We believe those injuries were sustained in a hit-and-run crash. It's under investigation right now," said Mulcahy. It's early, we just don't have a lot of information to go on so we really need assistance from the public."

The hit-and-run is being investigated by the department's traffic safety section.

Police Seeking Help

The area where Broseker was hit has no crosswalks or sidewalks and is not near many homes or businesses.

"We just don't really know why exactly the pedestrian was in the area, but that's why we need witnesses to come forward," Mulcahy said.

Police say there are no witnesses at the time, though they're asking anyone who may have been driving through the area at the time of the incident, or who has any information to come forward.

"Whether you saw a vehicle leaving the area, whether there was damage to a vehicle…we certainly want to hear from you. Our investigators would like to speak with you," Mulcahy said. "We certainly want to bring justice for the victim."
