MARC Riders Want Extended Hours If O's Make It To World Series
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Riders of Maryland Area Regional Commuter trains are asking Gov. Martin O'Malley to extend service hours if the Orioles make it to the World Series.
That the MARC Riders Advisory Council sent a letter to O'Malley Thursday, saying the extra service could help prevent traffic gridlock around the ballpark.
The Orioles begin the American League Championship Series Friday night against Kansas City. If the Orioles win the best-of-seven series, they would host game 1 of the World Series Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Camden Yards.
A spokesman for the Maryland Transit Administration says the agency is meeting with officials from CSX, which owns the rail lines, to try to negotiate extended service.
On normal weeknights the last MARC train from Baltimore to Washington leaves at 7:45 p.m.
