Man Who Killed Sarah Foxwell Slashed In Prison
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Corrections officials say the man convicted of kidnapping and killing an 11-year-old girl was slashed with a homemade weapon in prison.
Thomas James Leggs Jr. was attacked Sunday during lunch at the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland. Officials say he suffered injuries to his head, hand and neck but was not seriously hurt. He was treated at the infirmary.
A weapon was recovered, but officials are continuing their investigation to identify a suspect.
Leggs was sentenced to life without parole in March after he pleaded guilty in the kidnapping death of Sarah Foxwell. She was abducted from her aunt's home on the night of Dec. 22, 2009. Her body was found that Christmas.
