Man Wanted In Metro Kidnapping Turns Himself In
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Authorities say a man accused of kidnapping a man and forcing him to ride a Metro train at gunpoint before robbing him has turned himself in.
Metro Transit Police says 21-year-old Timothy Pernell Williams turned himself in Friday night. Williams is accused of accosting a man at the green line's Naylor Road station and forcing him to ride five stops to the Waterfront station in southwest Washington.
Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says the two men then left the system and went to two nearby businesses where the victim was forced to make ATM withdrawals. Stessel says the kidnapper's gun was apparently covered by a sweatshirt as the two rode the train.
Metro posted a wanted poster for Williams on Twitter on Tuesday. Williams' lawyer says his client maintains his innocence.
