Man Wanted In Deaths Of Wife, Stepdaughter Found In Texas
BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP) -- The FBI report a North Carolina man charged in the deaths of his wife and stepdaughter has been found in Amarillo, Texas after a multi-state manhunt.
Billy Jo McLean, 54, is charged with first-degree murder by the state of North Carolina in the deaths of his wife, Calandra, and his 13-year-old stepdaughter, TaShonna.
According to the Associated Press, firefighters found their bodies Monday inside their burning apartment in Sanford, North Carolina after a resident reported smelling a strong odor of gasoline.
Investigators say Calandra McLean's body was found bound with duct tape and her daughter's body was found in a bathtub. There was no sign either of them had been shot.
After the murders, the FBI believes McClean fled with his 17-year-old son, Tobias, who is possibly disabled and in need of medication which he does not have with him.
McClean, who should be considered armed and dangerous, was last seen driving a silver 2001 Ford Windstar van with North Carolina license plate number CJX6906.
Authorities believed he may have fled to the northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., or Maryland area.
He was found in Texas and his son is safe.
