Man Shot Dead Outside Columbia Apartment Complex
COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ)—Howard County police are investigating the overnight homicide of a man outside of his apartment in Columbia.
Omar Oliver, 39, of the 5200 block of Brook Way was shot around 1:30 a.m. following an altercation with an unknown suspect or suspects.
Police received a 911 call from a family member of Oliver's who reported hearing arguing and then gun shots outside. The person looked out the window and saw Oliver on the ground in a grassy area near the apartment building. Another family member ran outside and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Oliver had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives do not have a suspect at this time and do not know of a motive.
Investigators followed up on an initial possible lead Thursday morning, but the information did not pan out.
Anyone who lives in the Berkshires apartment complex who may have seen or heard anything around 1:30 a.m. are urged to contact police and may do so anonymously. Residents or others with information may also provide anonymous tips through the free smartphone app, "iWatchHowardCounty."
