SNOW HILL, Md. (AP) -- A man who was found with 75 pounds of marijuana in the car he was driving has been sentenced to a year in jail.
Twenty-four-year-old Darnell Kelley of Newport News, Va., was sentenced Thursday. He pleaded guilty to possessing drugs with the intent to distribute them.
In May, Maryland State Police stopped Kelley's car for speeding.
A police dog alerted to the vehicle, and 75 pounds of marijuana in two gym bags were found in the car.
Kelley's father, 40-year-old Modis Chandler, also of Newport News, was also in the car and was charged with drug offenses. His trial is set for Jan. 12.
