Man Sentenced To 7 Years For Attempted Rape
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A man who pleaded guilty to attempted rape of a woman in a Hagerstown parking lot has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Darius Jackson, 20, was also ordered to register as a sex offender at sentencing Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court.
Prosecutors say early on Jan. 9, a newspaper deliveryman pulled into the parking lot and saw a man standing over a woman and pulling up his pants. Authorities say the suspect fled when the driver pulled into the parking lot.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that the victim told police she was walking when the suspect forced her to the ground.
The deliveryman saw the suspect about an hour later and called police.
