Man Sentenced To 100 Years For Repeated Molestation Of Girlfriend's Daughter
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for the repeated molestation of his girlfriend's teen daughter.
Michael Griffin, 49, received his sentence Friday.
Between 2004 and 2009, from the time the victim was 13 until she was 17 years old, Griffin, her adopted mother's live-in boyfriend, repeatedly raped and molested her in their Northeast Baltimore home.
"By prosecuting this violent predator and securing a 100-year prison sentence, we have successfully foreclosed on his freedom and ensured that our young people are safe from his harm," State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein said. "As always, we hope this result will help the victim to achieve a sense of closure."
When she was about 14, Griffin impregnated her and then paid for her to have an abortion. He impregnated her again when she was 16 or 17 and again took her to abort the child.
The victim was 5 years old when her birth mother lost custody of her and her seven siblings. She lived in a number of group and foster homes for two years before being adopted.
Afraid to inform authorities of the abuse while she was still a minor for fear that she would be sent back into the foster care system, the victim reported the abuse when she was 18 years old.
On June 10, 2013, a Baltimore City Circuit Court jury convicted Griffin of five counts of sexual child abuse.
