Man Sentenced In Theft Of $113K From Md. ATMs
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A West Virginia man has been sentenced to four months in prison for stealing nearly $113,000 from ATMs in Maryland.
John Nathaniel Watts, 34, of Martinsburg was also sentenced to eight months of home confinement and ordered to pay restitution at Monday's sentencing.
According to his guilty plea, Watts was an ATM technician with Diebold Inc. On May 26, 2011, he went into a SunTrust bank branch in Bowie, and under the guise of working on the machine, removed more than $66,000. Watts put the money in his tool bag and left.
Watts made similar thefts from bank machines in LaPlata and Waldorf.
