Man Sentenced For Setting Fire At Restaurant
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man convicted of setting a fire at a restaurant in Anne Arundel County to cover up his burglary has been sentenced to nearly 6 years in prison.
Thirty-three-year-old Brian Keith Swope Jr. of Brooklyn Park was also ordered to pay restitution of $100,000 at sentencing Monday in federal court in Baltimore.
According to his plea agreement, on May 23, 2013, Swope and a conspirator broke into Pizza City.
Prosecutors say Swope and the conspirator stole money, which they spent on drugs. Authorities say Swope and the conspirator went back to the restaurant that evening and stole food and other items.
Prosecutors say Swope and the conspirator went to the restaurant a third time that evening to set the fire to destroy surveillance equipment that linked them to the crimes.
