Man Sentenced For Embezzling $400,000
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The treasurer of a federal employees' association has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for embezzling more than $400,000 from the group.
Salvatore Petti, 76, of Ellicott City was also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing Wednesday in federal court in Baltimore.
Prosecutors say Petti, who was retired after 40 years of working for the Social Security Administration, was treasurer of that office's Employees Activities Association. Petti issued unauthorized checks to himself from the group's funds.
