Man Sentenced For Carjacking, Kidnapping Spree
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A Landover man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for carjacking and kidnapping three elderly men in a mall parking lot.
Authorities say 51-year-old Henry Sanders used a box cutter when he approached his vulnerable victims in November 2011. He was able to force them into vehicles without passersby noticing, and he forced them to withdraw money from ATMs.
Sanders has also pleaded guilty to three robberies in Prince George's County and is awaiting sentencing for those crimes. He apologized in court for his crimes Friday. The sentencing hearing also included testimony from the victims, one of whom suffered a broken nose and orbital bone when Sanders struck him.
