Man Pleads Guilty In Stabbing Of Teen
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A man prosecutors say was involved in a fight that led to the stabbing death of a teenager has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.
Matthew Steven Gardner, 27, of Washington entered the plea Monday in Washington County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
The charge came from a fight on March 29 in Hagerstown. Prosecutors say Matthew Gardner and his brother got into an argument with Shakur Thornton. Thornton, 17, was fatally stabbed in the chest.
The Herald-mail of Hagerstown reports Antonio Gardner, 26, of Washington is charged with second-degree murder and other offenses in Thornton's death.
