Man Killed In Southeast Baltimore Cutting Monday Night, Police Say
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police are investigating after a man was killed in southeast Baltimore on Monday night.
Southeast District officers were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Conkling Street to investigate a cutting shortly after 9 p.m.
Officers found a 30-year-old man, later identified as Marcus Wilson, who had been cut with an unknown object to his body.
Medics took Wilson to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Neighbors in the area told WJZ a young girl witnessed the attack. Todd Mekulski said he knows someone who watched the entire incident.
"There was a little girl with her father," he said. The young man got stabbed three times."
After 911 was called, neighbors said investigators were in the area for hours trying to identify who is responsible.
Mekulski said it's sickening to have a crime like this witnessed by a child.
"It's a terrible thing for anybody to witness, much less a young girl," he said.
Councilman Zeke Cohen said the Trauma Response Team is assisting the family. Neighbors think the child is the victim's daughter, but police have not confirmed their relationship.
"It worries me, troubles me," Mekulski added. "There have always been problems here on and off. The neighborhood seems to be gentrifying, you can see it around you when something like this happens, makes you think twice."
