Man Indicted In Slaying Of Estranged Wife, Stepson
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A man has been indicted in Montgomery County in the killings of his estranged wife and stepson.
Prosecutors on Thursday announced a five-count indictment charging Curtis Lopez, 45, with murder, robbery and kidnapping.
He's accused of fatally stabbing Jane McQuain and beating her to death inside her Germantown apartment. Police found her body in the apartment on Oct. 12, and six days later, officers discovered the body of her 11-year-old son, William, in the woods in Clarksburg.
Authorities believe the boy had been beaten with a baseball bat.
Lopez was arrested in Charlotte, N.C., one day after Jane McQuain's body was found. Police believe he stole her car and other property from her apartment.
Lopez's public defender declined to comment Thursday because the case is pending.
