Man Indicted In Howard County Native's Killing
MACON, Ga. (AP) -- A Bibb County, Georgia grand jury has indicted 26-year-old Stephen McDaniel on a murder charge in the killing of Lauren Giddings, his Mercer University law school classmate and next-door neighbor in Macon.
The Telegraph newspaper reports the grand jury also indicted McDaniel on Tuesday on 30 counts of sexual exploitation of children.
McDaniel, from Lilburn, has been in jail since July 1, the day after Giddings' dismembered torso was found in a roll-away trashcan near the apartment building where they lived.
The 27-year-old Giddings, who grew up in Laurel, Md., and attended college in Georgia for much of the past decade, was last seen June 25. Macon police investigating her disappearance discovered her remains.
McDaniel was charged with murder on Aug. 2 and was denied bond on Aug. 26.
