Man Held For Trial In Off-Campus Rape In Pa.
CALIFORNIA, Pa. (AP) -- The attorney for a western Pennsylvania college student accused of raping a student from another school at an off-campus party says the encounter was consensual.
A magistrate ordered Harold Stanback, 26, to stand trial for the alleged attack on an 18-year-old California University of Pennsylvania student earlier this month in Coal Center.
Stanback, of Capitol Heights, Md., is a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a former University of Connecticut football player.
Defense attorney Turahn Jenkins tells WTAE-TV witnesses had come forward saying the encounter was consensual.
Police say the woman didn't know the name of the man who attacked her at an off-campus party but was able to identify him through surveillance footage taken at a basketball game earlier the same day.
