Man Gets 5 Years For Fleeing Police, Having Gun
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A man who had a gun in his car and led police on a high-speed chase has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Gary Wingate Jr., 24, of Baltimore was sentenced Thursday.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that on Feb. 17, Wingate sped off after he was pulled over by West Virginia State police in Berkeley County. Troopers in Maryland pursued his car when it entered the state. Wingate drove over stop sticks, then tried to pass a state police cruiser. The two vehicles collided.
A loaded .357-caliber Astra revolver was found under the driver's seat of Wingate's vehicle.
