Man Gets 30 Years In Daughter's Death
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Brunswick man is serving 30 years in prison for child abuse resulting in the death of his 2-month-old daughter.
Jason Zirinsky, 26, was sentenced as a part of a surprise plea deal Friday. He had been scheduled for a pretrial motions hearing this week.
The Frederick News-Post reports that Zirinsky entered an Alford plea to the charge. In an Alford plea, the defendant doesn't admit guilt but acknowledges the state has enough evidence to convict.
Zirinsky was charged with first-degree murder in the November beating death of Lexi Zirinsky.
Lexi's mother, Jessica Peavy, is charged with failing to protect her daughter from harm.
Zirinsky was sentenced to three years in prison in 2006 for child endangerment stemming from injuries that another baby daughter suffered in Roxbury, N.J.
