Man Gets 26 Years In Toddler's Death
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A 23-year-old man convicted of manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend's 1-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 26 years in prison.
Sharmell Thomas was sentenced Monday in Baltimore City Circuit Court. He had been convicted in June in the death of the toddler.
Prosecutors say the child was found not breathing in a Baltimore apartment in June 2011 and died at Shock Trauma. Thomas had been babysitting the child.
An autopsy showed the girl died of abusive head trauma.
