Man Falls To Death From Md. Rock Formation
CASCADE, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a 34-year-old man has fallen to his death from a rock formation in northeastern Washington County.
Authorities say Michael Liller of Thurmont fell about 100 feet from High Rock Monday in what appeared to be an accident. He was dead by the time medics got to him.
Sgt. Daryl Sanders of the Washington County Sheriff's Office tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that Liller jumped from the peak of the rock formation to a metal grate that people use for hang gliding. Sanders says Liller then jumped to another rock, lost his balance and fell.
He says about 12 people were at the popular lookout spot when the fall occurred around 4 p.m., and that some called 911.
