Man Faces 15 Charges In Alleged Hit-And-Run
WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- Westminster police have charged an Upperco man with 15 offenses after he allegedly left the scene of a fender bender.
Shawn Spires, 30, was arrested Saturday and charged with assault, negligent driving and other offenses.
Police say on Friday, Spires was backing out of a parking spot at a convenience store in Westminster when he hit another vehicle. Spires allegedly got out and told the victim not to call police, but when she did, Spires allegedly got back into his car and tried to drive away.
Officers tell the Carroll County Times that Spires repeatedly stuck the same vehicle and another when trying to flee. The victim's 12-year-old daughter was still in her car, police say.
Spires was found after police viewed surveillance video from the store.
