Man Enters Guilty Plea For Role In Crash That Killed Md. Cop
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A man has pleaded guilty to a charge stemming from a fatal car crash involving a Prince George's County police officer.
Kenneth Mitchell pleaded guilty Friday to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to time served, or about 14 months, but has an outstanding warrant in Montgomery County.
In August 2012, Mitchell was the passenger in a car that was being pursued by Officer Adrian Morris after a vehicle break-in at a gas station in Laurel. Police say Morris lost control of his car during the chase and was thrown from the vehicle and died from severe head trauma.
His attorney didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
The driver of the car, Kevon Neal, is scheduled to stand trial in January on a manslaughter charge.
