Man Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency During Elkridge Traffic Stop
ELKRDIGE, Md. (WJZ/AP) -- A Howard County man is dead after suffering a medical emergency during a traffic stop.
Police in Elkridge pulled over Hakeem Muhammad, 51, early Saturday morning on southbound Route 1 at the exit to Route 100 West.
He was apparently driving with suspended tags and provided false information to police.
When placed in handcuffs, authorities say Muhammad suffered possible cardiac arrest.
He was later pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital.
Police are now working to confirm the exact cause of death.
