Man Dies After His Car Plunges Into The Potomac River
WASHINGTON (WJZ)-- A car is pulled out of the Potomac with a victim inside. It happened Sunday after a car traveling on the George Washington Memorial parkway left the road and plunged into the river.

One person is confirmed dead after their vehicle went into what metropolitan police describe as about 10 feet of water in the Potomac.
Emergency crews are seen trying to revive the victim once the body was pulled from the water but it was apparently too late.
The operator of a DC Duck Tour boat saw it happen.
"The witness called in and basically stated that he saw a vehicle in the water 3/4 of the way submerged and one person was seen, a silhouette of a person," said Lt. Paul Niepling of the D.C. Police Department.
A K-9 unit inspected the surrounding area to make sure there wasn't a second person who maybe jumped or fell out of the car.
"We have violent crime unit detectives respond to the scene as well as our major crash unit responded just to determine really what we got, what likely happened," said Officer Essray Taliaferro of the D.C. Police Department.
Police have not released the name of the driver yet. They do say it appears the man was attempting suicide.
