Annapolis Man Convicted Of Killing Ex-Girlfriend's Visitor
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- An Annapolis man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a visitor to his ex-girlfriend's home.
Prosecutors say Charles Spriggs Jr., 26, was convicted this week by an Anne Arundel County jury in the death of Howard Durley, 30. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole at sentencing Jan. 9.
Prosecutors say on Jan. 23, Spriggs and William Chase, 20, confronted Durley as he left the ex-girlfriend's home in Annapolis.
Authorities say Spriggs told Chase, who had a gun, to shoot Durley. Prosecutors say Chase shot Durley in the chest, chased him and shot him again. Durley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chase pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in July. Prosecutors will seek a 55-year prison term at sentencing Dec. 3.
