Man Convicted In Robberies Targeting Asians In 4 States, Including Md.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A Philadelphia man has been convicted in violent home invasion robberies targeting Asian business owners in four states.
After a four-day trial, a federal jury convicted Tahn Le, 44, on Monday of conspiracy, robbery and firearms violations in robberies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia. He is scheduled for sentencing April 23.
Authorities said Le and others targeted successful Asian business owners in 2010 in the belief that they stored significant amounts of business proceeds in their homes.
Prosecutors said they brandished handguns, tied up and sometimes beat the victims and stole business proceeds as well as expensive jewelry. Officials say six co-defendants have pleaded guilty in the case.
