Man Charged With Stealing 1,200 Hats
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Cumberland Police have charged a man with stealing 1,200 custom fitted hats in a burglary last month at a Cumberland business.
Twenty-six-year-old Jeremy Michael Wigger of Cumberland was arrested Friday and charged with burglary and theft. He is being held on $65,000 bond.
Police say the New Era and Mitchell & Ness brand hats, worth more than $20,000, were taken in a burglary Nov. 14 or 15 at the Fitted Hat Joint.
Investigators recovered 600 of the hats in a home in Mineral County, W.Va. and obtained an arrest warrant for Wigger.
Police say Wigger and at least one other person were selling the hats locally.
