Man Charged With Setting Fire In Apartment

ELKTON, Md. (AP) -- Fire officials have charged a 53-year-old man with setting a fire in his ex-girlfriend's apartment.

John Zehnder of no fixed address was charged Thursday with arson, malicious burning and reckless endangerment.

He is being held on $100,000 bond.

Deputy state fire marshals say Zehnder got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend in her apartment in Elkton on Wednesday.

Authorities say he set fire to a pile a clothes in a closet. A sprinkler system put out the blaze before firefighters arrived.
