Man Charged With Murder In Death Of Boy, 2
SUITLAND, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a two-year-old boy has died after a severe beating, and the child's mother's boyfriend has been charged with murder.
The boy, Jamar Shipe, was hospitalized Wednesday in critical condition. Police say he was found unresponsive at his Suitland home with injuries that included head trauma. Jamar died on Thursday.
Police announced Saturday that Jamar's death had been ruled a homicide. Twenty-six-year-old Clifton Bernard has been charged with first-degree murder and related offenses. He's being held without bond.
Court records show Bernard was previously convicted of theft and received a suspended jail term after violating his probation.
