Man Charged With DUI In Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A 26-year-old man has been charged with driving under the influence after a multi-vehicle crash in which a Pennsylvania motorcyclist was fatally injured.
Robert Hilliard Jr. of Hagerstown has been charged with 21 counts, including failing to stop at the scene. He is being held on $750,000 bond.
The accident happened Thursday about 12:50 p.m. on Eastern Boulevard. According to the statement of probable cause, a car driven by Hilliard rear-ended a car and pushed it into a motorcycle operated by Richard Burchfield II of Oil City, Pa.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown cites court documents as saying the motorcycle was then pushed into an SUV, trapping Burchfield underneath the SUV.
Burchfield, 45, was taken to Meritus Medical Center, where he died on Friday.
