Man Charged In Last Month's Fiery Crash In Chevy Chase
CHEVY CHASE, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say the sole survivor of a fiery crash in Chevy Chase last month has been charged with car theft.
Police say Reeco Richardson, 18, of northeast Washington was charged Tuesday. Police say Richardson and three teenagers were traveling in a car on March 23 that a patrol officer discovered had been reported stolen. The officer called for backup, and police cars were prepared stop the car. But police say that before they could do so, the Toyota Echo sped away.
Authorities say the car fled south on Connecticut Avenue before crashing into a tree at Chevy Chase Circle and bursting into flames.
Officials rescued the driver and Richardson from the front seats. The back-seat passengers died at the scene.
