Man Charged In Attacks Near Suitland Metro Station
SUITLAND, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police have arrested a man in connection with the assaults and robberies of two women near the Suitland Metro station.
Police said Tuesday Philip James Fleming, 30, of District Heights has been charged with rape and armed robbery, and is being held without bond.
Police say the women were attacked in the early morning hours while walking to the Metro station.
Authorities say a woman was groped and robbed at gunpoint on Sept. 15.
A little more than week later, police say another woman was led across the street at gunpoint and was sexually assaulted behind an abandoned building.
Authorities say they are investigating whether Fleming may have been involved in other assaults or robberies in the area.
Fleming was arrested on Friday.
