Man Charged In 2006 Slaying Of Ex-Federal Officer
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a Glen Burnie man has been charged with the killing of a former federal police officer behind a bar in 2006.
Police charged William McDonald, 31, with first-degree murder and other offenses in the shooting death of Benjamin Howard Curtis, 47, on Aug. 12, 2006.
McDonald is serving a 50-year sentence for an unrelated robbery.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that police say Curtis was sitting in an SUV behind a bar with a woman when a man with a handgun demanded cash. Authorities say Curtis complied, but intervened when the man threatened the woman. There was a struggle and the robber shot Curtis, who died at Shock Trauma.
