Man Arrested In Wheaton Mall Kidnappings, Robberies
WHEATON, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a tip from the public led to the arrest of a man accused of kidnapping and robbing three people at a mall in Wheaton.
Police announced Wednesday that Henry Sanders, 50, of Landover has been charged in the three incidents, all of which occurred in the past week. Police say all three times, Sanders accosted a man as the victim was getting into his car outside the Westfield Wheaton shopping center.
Police say Sanders was armed with a box cutter when he confronted the victims. He then allegedly drove them to ATMs and forced them to withdraw cash. The final victim was cut and beaten.
Sanders is charged with multiple counts of kidnapping, armed carjacking and armed robbery, among other offenses.
